How to Remove a Hairbrush from a Toddler's Hair

How to Remove a Hairbrush From a Toddler's Hair

So, you're toddler found your hair brush. And she brushed her hair--even twirling the brush like you do. Only problem? Although your hair is two inches long (so the twirl-the-hairbrush trick curls your hair), your little girl's hair is eightish inches long... so she just ends up with a brush stuck next to her scalp. Although it is tempting (for both ease and revenge) to pull out the scissors, and your mother-in-law is on the phone pleading with you to just be patient and ease it all out strand by strand (which you've tried, by the way, but each hair is just breaking strand by strand), there is a better way. At least, as long as you have no strong emotional bond with that hairbrush...

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things Youll Need:

  • toddler with hairbrush stuck in her hair (don't forget her)
  • wire cutters
  • bottle of de-tangling spray
  • pick or rat-tail comb (a pencil or skewer work, if worse comes to worse)
  • something to keep aforementioned toddler from squiggling and/or whining while you're TRYING to be patient
Step 1 11111
Get the toddler distracted.
Step 22
Using the wire-cutters, clip off bristle of the brush. Yes, it's going to take a while and you might want to ice your hand after.
Step 33
Once all the bristles are off, absolutely douse the stuck hair with the detangling spray.
Step 4 4
Use the pick, rat-tail comb, or other long-skinny-pokey-thing to ease the hair out. Don't bother with the one-strand-at-a-time method. Just work on loosening the hair knot that the brush is in the center of and everything will come out just dandy.
